Full Boarding Requirements

Our goal is to make your pet’s stay safe, comfortable, and worry-free. Please review the requirements below before your visit.

1. Meet-and-Greet Evaluation

  • If we do not already have an established relationship with your pet, or if your pet has not been seen by the Brookeside Veterinary Hospital team within the past 12 months, you may be asked to schedule a brief meet-and-greet evaluation with one of Brookeside Veterinary Hospital’s Fear Free Certified technicians.

  • This visit helps the team assess your pet’s comfort level, behavior, and overall well-being so we can provide the safest and most comfortable boarding experience possible.

  • Additional details about this evaluation are included in the Boarding Agreement.

2. Required Vaccinations

To protect every guest, pets must be current (not overdue before or during their stay). Vaccinations must be completed at least two weeks prior to your pet’s boarding stay.

Dogs: DHPP, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Canine Influenza, Rabies
Cats: FVRCP, Rabies

*Please have vaccination records available before check-in day.

3. Health Screening & Parasite Prevention

  • Dogs: Current heartworm & tick screen

  • All pets: Negative fecal exam within the last 6 months

  • All pets: On consistent, year-round prevention for fleas, ticks, and (for dogs) heartworm

    • If a dose is overdue, we will administer a dose and add it to your invoice.

  • Please note the date and product/brand of the most recent dose at check-in.

4. Check-In & Check-Out Information

Boarding arrivals and departures are scheduled in advance to help maintain a calm, organized environment for every guest. When you reserve your pet’s stay, our team will schedule a specific check-in and check-out time with you.

Please allow approximately 15–20 minutes for check-in so we can review your pet’s health status, belongings, and comfort preferences. Most check-outs take about 5–10 minutes.

5. Food & Treats (Required Meal Baggies)

To keep mealtimes accurate and stress-free, food baggies must be prepared for each meal your pet will receive while boarded.

Each baggie must include:

  • Pet’s name (first name & last initial, or full name)

  • Meal time (AM, PM, or afternoon)

  • Pre-measured portion sealed in a sandwich- or quart-sized bag

Please place all meal baggies in a labeled container/tub for transport.
Refrigeration is very limited. Only bring items that require minimal cold storage unless medically necessary.

If your pet’s food runs out, or if you prefer, we can provide an in-house kennel diet for an additional cost.

6. Medications & Supplements

  • Prescription medications must be in their original prescription packaging with a readable label showing: patient name, drug name, concentration, and dosing directions.

  • Supplements / OTC items must be in original packaging or a clearly labeled baggie, with written directions for use.

  • Our team administers all medications/supplements as directed on the label.

7.  Personal Items & Storage

  • You’re welcome to bring a familiar bed/blanket and a couple of favorite toys/chews. Please note that these must be clearly and permanently labeled by the owner.

  • We rinse and air-dry bedding if soiled (no machine washing).

  • For safety and organization, all items except bedding are stored in Brookeside-provided tubs that are all similar in size.

8. Boarding Options & Pricing

We’re committed to providing a calm, comfortable environment with attentive care from our experienced boarding team.

Current rates per pet:

  • Dogs $45

  • Cats $25

  • Medical Boarding Supplement: $15/day for chronic medical conditions (includes additional monitoring and coordination with veterinary staff if needed). See Below 9. Medical Boarding

Pricing supports continued facility and process improvements that make every stay safer and more comfortable.

9. Medical Boarding

If your pet has a chronic medical condition requiring daily monitoring/oversight by a veterinary team member, a medical boarding supplement applies. This allows our BACS team to coordinate with Brookeside Veterinary Hospital staff to provide a daily brief exam and evaluation of appetite, attitude, vitals, etc., while boarding. Watching trends and catching issues early can be the difference between a safe and happy stay and a poor outcome.  Our veterinary staff is only involved 1) in a life-threatening emergency or 2) daily, IF you choose the medical boarding supplement. It is also possible that we will require a medical board supplement for some chronic conditions of pets.

10. Forms & Agreements

  • A Boarding Intake Form is required for every stay.

  • The Boarding Agreement needs to be reviewed every two years. This outlines understanding and expectations for each party with respect to boarding at BBG.

  • We will email the correct form(s) after booking; please print, complete, and bring them to check-in.

10. Facility Tours

We’re happy to show you around. Please call to schedule a boarding tour.

Preparing for Your Pet’s Stay

To help make your pet’s boarding experience at Brookdale Boarding & Grooming as smooth and comfortable as possible, please review the preparation details below.

1. Food & Feeding Preparation

To keep your pet’s routine consistent and reduce stress during their stay, please prepare food carefully before arrival.

  • Double-check that all meals are separately pre-measured out and labeled with your pet’s name and meal time (AM/PM)

Include extra meals in case travel plans change

  • Ensure food containers are secure and clearly marked

Refrigeration space is limited. Please avoid bringing items that require significant cold storage unless medically necessary.

If food runs out, we will provide an appropriate in-house diet and add the cost to your invoice.

2. Medications & Supplements

If your pet takes medications or supplements:

  • Confirm all prescription medications are in their original prescription containers with readable labels.

  • Include written instructions if needed

  • Notify our team of any recent changes in dosing

Clear labeling helps us safely and accurately administer all treatments.

3. Comfort Items

Familiar items can help your pet feel more at ease in a new environment. Please note that these must be clearly and permanently labeled by the owner.

You are welcome to bring:

  • A bed or blanket

  • One or two favorite toys or chews

Please avoid bringing excessive belongings, as storage space is limited.

4. Emergency Contact Information

Please provide a secondary emergency contact who can make decisions on your behalf if you are unavailable during your pet’s stay.

This allows us to respond quickly if needed.

5. Behavior & Personality Notes

To help us personalize your pet’s experience, please share:

  • Known stress triggers

  • Nervous habits

  • Favorite routines

  • Handling preferences

The more we understand about your pet, the more comfortable their stay will be.

6. Medical Boarding Reminder

If your pet has a chronic medical condition requiring daily monitoring, a medical boarding supplement applies. This allows our team to provide additional monitoring and coordinate with Brookeside Veterinary Hospital staff if veterinary care is needed during your pet’s stay.

If you have questions about preparing for your pet’s stay, please contact our team prior to arrival.
